Termed the Best One-Day Rafting in the World. The Zambezi River, immediately below Victoria Falls, plunges into the narrow Batoka Gorge, creating a sequence of rapids that are globally renowned as the most intense and exciting one-day commercial rafting trip in the world. The river features numerous Grade IV and V rapids, the highest classification commercially run. The names alone, like "Oblivion," "The Devil's Toilet Bowl," and "Commercial Suicide" (which is always portaged for safety) - tell the story of the intensity. The trip begins in the Boiling Pot, the massive cauldron directly below the Victoria Falls, and navigates through the dramatic, towering walls of the Batoka Gorge.
Beyond paddling through massive waves, you should be prepared to be thrown out of the raft known as "swimming a rapid" and to perform a strenuous hike in and out of the gorge which is equivalent to climbing a 7-story building. Zambezi has a world-class safety record. Trips are led by highly trained, certified guides and are supported by safety kayaks that retrieve swimmers quickly.

Travel advice
- The experience changes dramatically with the Zambezi River's water level. Low Water between August and December is lower, exposing more rock meaning the rapids are bigger, more technical, and more intense. This is considered the ultimate rafting experience, and it begins right below the Falls covering Rapids 1–19.
- High Water, Jan - Feb & Jun – Jul Water volume is massive, covering many rock formations. Rapids during that period are less technical but faster and with huge, rolling waves. Rafting often starts further downstream from Rapids 11–23 as the initial rapids become too dangerous to run.
- Rafting may be closed entirely during the peak flood season, often April/May when the water level is extremely high.
